Stacked Forms - Going Vertical: 5-day Ceramic Intensive with Suze Lindsay
Join Suze for five days of exploration at Starworks! We will use thrown and hand-built elements to create altered and stacked pottery forms, including vases, pitchers, covered jars, and candlesticks. Together, we will experiment with alterations to wheel-thrown pots, creating with function in mind while stretching ideas about 3D form and imagery. Using slips on leather-hard clay, we will focus on developing personal imagery and exploring how to plan for the marriage of form and surface. Bring your sketchbook for writing and drawing exercises designed to push and expand your ideas.
Each day includes writing and drawing prompts, demonstrations, discussions about making, and shared images of historical and contemporary sources to kindle purpose and intention.
This workshop offers dedicated time and space to explore ideas deeply, experiment with process, and develop a more personal approach to form and surface. Bisque only. Recommended for those with wheel-throwing experience.

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENT A minimum of seven (7) students is required for the workshop to take place. If minimum enrollment is not met, the workshop will be canceled.

Housing available onsite! Students will arrange their stay at Starworks' onsite artist housing for the duration of the workshop. Starworks charming campus, well-equipped studios, and shared eating & living spaces create a community atmosphere conducive to creativity and collaboration.
There are three room options available:
Option A: Larger Private Bedroom with Private Bath (6 nights) - $1,170
Option B: Smaller Private Bedroom with Private Bath (6 nights) - $900
Option C: Private Bedroom with Shared Bath (6 nights) - $702

Option A: 150 sq ft room with private bathroom and shared kitchen
Option B: 115 sq ft room with private bathroom and shared kitchen
Option C: 130 sq ft room with shared bathroom and shared kitchen
Prices include utilities. No pets are allowed.
All bedrooms rooms have a bed, night shelf, bedside lamp, and clothes rod/shelf. Linens and towels are provided. Personal soap, shampoo & conditioner are not provided.
The shared kitchen is equipped with refrigerator, electric stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, and coffee maker. There are silverware, plates, mugs, glasses, pots and pans, etc.
There is a shared kitchen and living area. Entire building equipped with AC, heat, & wifi.
En Suite bathrooms have shower, sink, and toilet. For shared bathrooms, all on 2nd floor, there are two shower rooms and two sink & toilet rooms.
Discounts and refunds are not available to students who arrive late or depart early from their housing accommodation.
