About the Pinecone Pathways Program
The Pinecone Pathways Program launched in 2022 to celebrate North Carolina’s Year of the Trail. Thanks to its popularity, the hunt has become an annual tradition that invites residents and visitors alike to explore Moore County’s trails in a playful, art-filled way.
For 2026, Visit Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Aberdeen is once again teaming up with the talented glassmakers at Starworks to create 100 colorful, handblown glass pinecones. Beginning on the first day of spring, March 20, and running through Earth Day on April 22, these pinecones will be hidden along Moore County trails for six weeks, encouraging outdoor exploration, community engagement, and discovery through art.
This Pinecone Pathways Fan Experience offers an early, insider look at the artists and craftsmanship behind this county-wide adventure.
