Kids Draw It, We Make It 
Annual outreach & community engagement program

Each spring, Starworks’ “Kids Draw It, We Make It” program invites elementary school students to dream up something they would like to see created from molten glass. Their drawings can be anything: a creature, an invention, something from nature, or an idea that exists only in their imagination.

Each year, one selected piece is created live during Firefest, giving students and families the opportunity to watch the drawing take shape as part of Starworks’ annual celebration of art, fire, and community.

In 2026, 1,335 elementary students submitted designs!

The project gives young people the chance to see their ideas taken seriously while introducing them to the artists, tools, and creative process behind glassmaking.

They draw it. We make it. Together, we discover what an idea can become.
