Things to do in the area

Seagrove Pottery Area is minutes away and is home to more than 100 potters, producing everything from utilitarian, functional pieces to high-end decorative art.  Along with the usual gas and electric firings, there are over thirty wood kilns in use in the immediate area.  The North Carolina Pottery Center,  located in the village of Seagrove, has exhibits that illustrate the history and progression of pottery in the state

North Carolina Zoological Park, located just 18 miles from Starworks, is one of the finest open-habitat zoological parks in the world.

Uwharrie Mountains & Lakes provide ample opportunities for recreational fun, including hiking the 25-mile Uwharrie Trail, horseback riding along more than 100 miles of scenic trails, off-roading, river and flat-water paddling, camping, backpacking, hunting, cycling, mountain biking, swimming, gold panning, birding and fishing.
