Business Incubator space

STARworks is a “hybrid” creative businesses incubator that features light manufacturing space (5,000-14,000 square feet) as well as office space. Space is also available for short-term projects, for example, temporary space for creating public art projects.

The building is fully sprinklered, and has wireless broadband Internet service. The Town of Star provides water and sewer service. Progress Energy provides electrical service and the building is equipped with three-phase power.

Current Tenants:

  • STARworks Ceramics Materials and Research – a ceramics materials and research business which serves the more than 100 local Seagrove potteries and areas throughout the southeast.  STARworks ceramics also provides leasable ceramics studios, wood kiln rental, visitor clay workshop and a clay manufacturing business.
  • Comfort South LLC, a company specializing in geothermal heating and air conditioning
  • Central Park NC offices
  • North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission offices
  • Wet Dog Glass LLC, (www.wetdogglass.com), a designer and fabricator of high efficiency glass studio equipmentAlso scheduled for 2008 is a public access glass studio that will provide training for high school students, displaced workers, and others interested in learning the craft of glass blowing.
  • a small-scale community garden project that will provide produce grown with sustainable and organic methods and will be used to provide sustainable agriculture workshops for local residents and school groups.
